triple B's today with YSR Racer

my son and I took up YSR_racer on his generous offer of some free sporting clays at Triple B Clays today. My son summed up the day by stating "that was so cool!" In fact, he could not stop saying that over and over again all the way home. And, he was right: it was so cool.

YSR_racer gave us some much needed basic instruction, then let us bang away. I broke a few, missed a few and had an absolute blast. I cannot thank YSR racer enough for being so generous.

after hunting the wily clay birds, we drooled over guns at the pro shop, and had a couple of burgers at the snack bar. A really nice old gentleman sat down with us and, when he found out it was our first time out there, he regaled us with stories and tips. That was fun too.

Anyway, thanks again YSR_racer, we had a great time.

wow, sounds awesome! I know nothing about shooting clay, so I would have loved to try it out with a pro and get a taste of it. That's what I love best about CG - meeting up with total strangers and having a good time.

I was all set to go, but the pistol match I went to took a lot longer than I thought it would. I guess I can't have my cake and eat it too. Argh.

I'd love to take the rain check, if there is one.

      Way to go!

Brad also introduced me to sporting clays more than a year ago.

Clays are a blast to shoot. Went through some today out at Berdoo Canyon.

            Hi Guys,

            I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Charlie, his son, and Theo came out to Triple B Clays, and we all had fun.

We all broke some targets and we all missed some.

If you guys want to do it again this coming weekend, I'm up for it.

As always, new shooters from Cal Guns get to play for free.

Let me know if anyone wants to do it on April 17th.

P.S. I'm not a licensed instructor, I'm just a guy that likes to break clay.

How about 10am on Saturday? I'll be sitting in front of the TBC restaurant wearing a yellow ball cap. You guys that came yesterday are welcome to join us.

If you have a shotgun that has at least a 21" barrel, bring it. If not you can shoot mine.

Also ear and eye protection if you have it.

For ammo bring 1 to 2 boxes of #8's or #7.5's. You can buy it at Wal-Mart or at the range.

                That's about it.

Great. 10 am it is. I have a Weatherby SA08 and I'll bring a few boxes of ammo. I appreciate the offer and look forward to seeing you there!

Does new to sporting clays count as a new shooter?

Sure. If you've never shot sporting clays, come on out.

What I'm trying to do is get people introduced to the sport.

If you're already a trap or skeet shooter, you're welcome to join us, but you probably already know more than me.

I dunno about that! I've shot plenty of trap, but never Sporting Clays. I've always used an O/U for trap but got a Beretta 391 to try Sporting Clays with. Went out to the trap range with it and couldn't hit anything! After that, I haven't felt comfortable trying something new!

yup. My wife asked me why anyone would treat us to free shooting. I told her that is just the way most of the folks on here are -- very generous and supportive.

Right back at you Theo. Hope to see you out there again.

The rest of you all should definitely take Brad up on his offer. I bet you will be hooked like we are. And it is just amazingly nice of him.
