starting in trap and skeet

i've been looking and surfing around the internet, has anybody found any good websites or even YouTube videos on the basics of trap and skeet shooting? so far, what i've found has been crap, so any help would be great!

I suggest that you go to the local club range, introduce yourself and explain your intentions. This way you will get hands on instruction and will probably be able to shoot a plethora of shotguns before you actually buy one(never-mind didn't see the Wingmaster in your signature). There are also many deals to be had from club members.

Not everything can be learned on the freakin' internet. Go to a range and ask around, there may be some old coot like me who MIGHT show you the ropes. Possibly for free (I would charge ya).

But, seriously there are plenty of real instructors out there. guy's who will show you the correct stance, judge the fit of your gun, explain target leading to you, watch you shoot and make corrections.

check your local range and see if any "clinics" are offered, even experienced shooters (like golfers) fall into bad habits and wonder what happened to their mojo!

Go out and shoot. I have only been once, but it was the most fun I have had in a long time. I didn't have much of an idea what I was doing. I met several people who bave me a basic lesson on what to do and one guy went through the course with me offering advice on how to improve. Go for it and burn a couple of boxes and have fun.

Valley of the Moon Trap Club in Sonoma has public shoot on Wednesday and Sunday mornings. There are always members around willing to instruct and coach. More than a couple are NRA certified instructors and are always happy to spend time with a noob.

About three weeks ago my girlfriend and I were at Livermoore Rod and Gun club. We were talking to a very nice, friendly gentleman who was a local. We had a few questions about trap. He offered to take us out on a Thursday to show us how for free. He will even bring some of his guns so we can see how they differ. I would go to a local range and someone may help you. There is a very nice range in San Jose (think golf course but w trap and shotguns) that offers instruction.

www.shotgunworld.com has helped me tremendously. Here are two links on youtube. The guy kinda has an annoying accent but he does know what he's talking about. I have been trap and sporting clay shooting for at leat 15 years. Just his little tips on visualizing the target has helped me alot recently. The 2nd video is in slow motion and will show you what "follow through" is all about.
