you will need to measure your action slide tube. To do that, you need to

MAKE SURE THE WEAPON IS UNLOADED AND CLEAR

take the barrel off, remove the action slide tube nut #23, and then slide the forend off. The forend mounts over the action slide tube. Then just measure how long the action slide tube is.

if you have the shorter one, you can use any forend, just get the extended nut.

I'm pretty sure that the Mossberg 500/590 should have the 7 3/4 forend. It appears that Mossberg only mentions the 6 3/4 in conjuntion with the 14inch barrel. I could be wrong, however.

I just special ordered the Surefire 623LMG for my 590. I guess that I'll find out the answer to that question when it arrives and fits/doesn't fit.

I can't find ANYTHING about the forend stats on the Mossberg site, or anywhere else for that matter. Don't take my word for it without verification though. I haven't seen confirmation either way. It's just that whenever I have seen it specifically mentioned to be anything except a 7 3/4 it was for the 14" barrel.

Which surefire do you have? I opted for the LM series because it it stated that there is no need to modify the lug. That and the 200 lumens/2 hour runtime LED (no breakable filament) seemed like a nice upgrade.

Does having a pound of weight on the forend affect the balance much?

Sorry, forgot to post the link if people were interested. A local shop here in town was willing to special order. Otherwise it is impossible to find the newer LM series-3 or 6.

I had a local dealer order me a 623 LM for my Mossberg 590 7.3/4. It is not available except through dealers until next month (per surefire sales rep)
