ok so i just bought my first shotgun remington 870 18". can you guys tell me about chokes and diffrent loadsfor home defense, hunting, breacher rounds. bought it for home defense but i been thinkin i might want to get into hunting can i just swap the barrel out?

You may have to change the barrel to accept choke tubes.

I called the factory and it was explained to me...and that mine didnt have them nor accept them. Its for home defense and killing paper so it will be fine for its purpose

Your weapon has a fixed Cyl Bore choke which is about a straight pipe. It is fine for HD and anything else up close. If you want to hunt you can get any Remington barrel you want to fit the type of hunting you want to do. If you got the model 25077 with the two shot extension then you want to get barrels that have the detent ball on them, a four shot spring and a police type or universal type magazine cap for when you swap barrel.

Just look for a 28 in barrell for the 870 express that excepts remchokes then get at least a improved cyl, moddify, and full choke that'll have you covered for pretty much any hunting or trap shooting you do.
