Thoughts: 870 Tactical vs 887 Nitro Mag Tactical

As you can see from the subject I'm in the market for a tactical shotgun. The 870 is tried and true and has a great track record. Does anyone own the 887? It's kind of in the same market as the Benelli Super Nova in the sense of lots of plastic. The 887 is advertised as easier to clean and more impervious to the elements due to the plastic armor.

Buy an 870 as the 887 doesn't have the aftermarket support yet.

I predict that the 887 will be history very soon. Don't get stuck with one. Get the 870 or wait 60 years and if the 887 is still around with the time test proven track record of the 870 then get one.

Thanks for the feedback. After reading a lot of threads here the 870 is very popular and well supported in the aftermarket. You can keep it simple or trick it out. Many new models don't have the after market support (yet). The Benelli Super Nova is a fav of my local store. I read the other thread here that had a great reply on the Pros and Cons of the Super Nova as well as YouTube links.

Let me ask this, Ghost Ring sites. Yea or Nay? Looks like they could be expensive to add after the fact if you don't get them pre-installed.

if you want ghost sights check out the hawk 982. Its an 870 clone with ghost ring sights. I have one and Im liking it

^^^^^ the Hawk is a real good shotgun and it fits all 870 parts no problem... i had one from 99 to 09 and it treated me good..... other than that get the 870 over a 887

Id go with an an 870
And as far as the ghost ring sights go its up top you. You try to get my hands on a couple different shotguns and find out what YOU like best, personally I prefer just a simple bead sight on the end.
