    Hoppes 12 ga bore snake

It's been a long time since Ive been impressed by a product but boy does the Hoppes bore snake work fantastic on shotguns.

I don't know how well these work in rifles but I completely cleaned 3 shotgun barrels with 2 passes each. I took me less than 10 minutes total.

As far as shotguns go this product works as advertised and I highly recommend one.

Yep, spray (anything) down the bore, and pass it thru.

    It works great.

I find that it works great for a range or field cleaning, but does not get everything. I still need to do a thorough cleaning afterwards. And yes the rifle snakes work well too - at least 30-06.

I have one for each of my calibers. Doesn't do a thorough job but it does enough for me! As long as you wash em after every few uses they are GTG for quick cleans down the barrel!

I too have one for each of my calibers. They work great!

I love bore-snakes, but I wish their pistol caliber ones were longer. They require more passes to get the inside of the barrel mirror-bright.

I also have one for each caliber (range)

They make the bore cleaning a sinch.

Of course I always break down guns and clean up in more detail after I get the bore done with a bore snake.

When I first got into guns, I would spend hours cleaning with rods, patches and brushes. Fortunately, one of my friends told me about Bore Snakes. Now I have one for each caliber/gauge and I spend allot less time cleaning.

Is there a good instructional on how to use a bore snake and cleaning in general? I'm picking up my toys this weekend and have no idea what the heck I'm supposed to do... help?

Buy some CLP from your local gun supply shop, buy some cheap tooth brushes, and a bore snake.

Read your manual or go online and find a tutorial on how to field strip your firearm.

Cleaning is pretty easy but it depends on how many rounds have been through the gun in question. Usually you can just spray the dirty area with CLP and scrub it with the brush. Wipe away dirt and excess lube and you're done.

The Bore Snake is just as easy. Open action and spray CLP down the barrel, drop in weighted end and proceed to pull the Bore Snake through the barrel. (chamber to muzzle) Repeat until clean which on a shotgun is only a couple of pulls through.

I have a bore snake for every one of my guns. I still prefer sitting down and putting cleaning patches through the barrels every once in a while but most of the time the bore snake does the job!
