Inherited a Remy 870 wingmaster

I got this when my dad passed, it has never been fired. I know that they are probably the most produced, by no means rare. I have original box, however he swapped barrels when it was new, 30" full choke for a 28" mod.The receiver ends in V, which I believe is 1979. My question is should I just shoot it and enjoy it or would it be worth keeping unfired ? Did I mention I live right across the street from Pacific gun club?

Thats kinda what I was thinking, its a smooth and beautiful gun and my son already has his eye on it! Looks like I will be visiting the range soon, hmmm all I have is 00 buckshot , can you shoot skeet with that?J/K

Thankfully they are only shooting Wed., Sat. & Sun , and Holidays ( as I said, RIGHT across the street) but I will be there!

J/K=just kidding on the buckshot, thats my home defense, that and my hk usp .40. No Wally world around here, maybe buy online? I just took delivery of some .40 s&w today, funny I thought you could not do that anymore thanks to the Governator. nope, I think V has been used for many years. I've seen early 1950's C&R 870s with serial number ending in V. YOu might want to call Remington and get a born on date, if the age is important to you.

Shoot it. You can also have the barrel threaded so you can use changeable chokes, I had it done for my 1100.

Or you can get a remcoke barrel for about $100.00.Check the no firearm parts forum. Keep the original barrel intact.

Nice, I didn't even know that was an option, I had mine done about seven years ago, and it cost me 150.00 plus chokes.

I inherited my 870 WM from my dad as well. I put a 18" barrel and a +2 mag extention on it. My dad was very practical so I know he would have approved. I kept all the original parts in case I want to return to original condition. This gun will be passed down to my son when I go.
