    Mossberg 930 mag extension

I just picked up my Mossberg 930 tactical yesterday. When I got home I installed my Choate +2 magazine extension. I trimmed the mag spring to 14 inches past the end of the tube. The shotgun now holds six in the tube. 7 almost goes in, in fact it can be forced in but won't feed due to the force being exerted on the shell release.

Do you all think I can get one more round in if I trim the mag spring to 12 inches? It felt like I was getting coil bind. Might the spring be too soft at 12 inches?

By the way the mag extension came with no instructions.

Factor in the compressed spring length and the follower. The tube is designed for 6 shells right. 1 in the chamber then ghost load the 8th.

According to Mossberg it's supposed to be a 5 shot before the extension. I should have verified but I was too excited and tore it apart when I got it home.

I'll cut off a coil at a time and see if it gets any closer to fitting in all 7.

I just realized that when I installed the new extension that I also installed a new anti-tilt follower tha was at least twice as long as the stock one.

Maybe that's my issue? I'll try it with a stock follower and we'll see what happens then.

          FWIW,
Better to be 6+1 certain than 7+1 maybe in terms of reliability. Congrats on a great shotgun.
RIP Louis Awerbuck. I miss you and your training.

100% true. This is going to be only a range, maybe 3 gun, toy. You can ghost load 930s so it will hold a total of 8 even if I don't mess with it further.

I have an 870 set up as my HD gun as I prefer a pump for if/when the chips are really down.

some of those followers are pretty long, but alot of that length fits inside of the compressed spring. so that may not be the issue.
Is there a Daves Metal works extention that will give the added mag tube capacity that you are looking for.
