    American Tactical AR 12 Gauge...

Just saw this ad in this month's SG news. Anybody know more info about this?

I don't see any info on their site....yet.

Google search yields some discussion at the HR:

    and here:

Later this year American Tactical Imports will be importing a semi-automatic 12 gauge shotgun patterened after the AR-15.Note I said patterned I am not sure if it contains any AR-15 compatible parts.

I believe the key word is AR-15 "style".
IIRC, the standard AR magwell can only hold up to a 410 shell single stacked.
I wonder who ATI is sourcing it from since Safir only makes 410 uppers (and shotguns). http://safirarms.com/eng.html

While this may be interesting competitor to the Saiga 12 due to a push vs. a lever actuated mag lock, I'm not sure I'd buy it personally.

I also don't know what an AR-10 type lower can hold in terms of max shell size/length. If it's an AR10 compatible lower (to Armalite/DPMS/whatever), that changes things completely (for me at least).

Nevermind. I read its from Adkal Arms.
Upon closer inspection, the rear buttstock looks integrated with the lower.
If you buy something like this, I'd recommend that you buy as many mags as you'll ever want with the gun order. Who knows if someone, anyone, will start making 3rd party mags (like with the Saiga). Just take a look at how quickly ATI dropped their 410 shotgun/upper.

It's a shame really a quality version would sell like hotcakes.

I'd love to see an American company take this on. Maybe they could wrestle away the Benelli contract for our military.

                Wow.

The grip is ugly, why not use a standard stock, what's with the joint at the front of the lower receiver, charging handle... fail, doesn't appear to allow aftermarket handguards/rails...

I'm not one to particularly care about looks per se, but I've seen airsoft and paintball guns that look better than this.

Such a neat idea... surely someone else will make one soon, perhaps more authentic looking?

IIRC a turkish company made .410 uppers for ar15 lowers. It looked exactly like an A2 and was pretty neat

                        If they were to...

                        1. Get rid of the sights.
                        2. Add a railed hand guard and Troy irons, front and rear.
                        3. Get rid of the full stock, make it MilSpec collapsible...or at least give the full stock the Sully Stock profile.

...then it'd be something to look at.

I'm guessing the goofy (slightly off angle from an A2 stock) has something to do with a recoil compensation system like the Browning shotguns (?)
