870 Home Defense...fixed barrel????

    870 Home Defense...fixed barrel????

    Hey All,

    My dad has an extra 870 express barrel that is 28". I figured I would by a home defense 870 express, then switch out barrels and mags to take hunting. The guy at Big 5 said that the barrel is fixed and you cant swap them out?

    Is this true? I thought he might be mixed up with "fixed cylider choke" but not completely sure?

      That guy at big 5 doesnt know anything, I have an 870 with a 18" and 28" barrel, you dont even need any tools to switch

          Very wrong.

          When the 870 was intruduced in the early 1950s it's big selling point was easy interchangable barrels. They still are today.

                      I was so surprised when he said that, I just left.

                      He was probably confused about the fixed choke.
