I'm planning on getting a Maverick 88 secuirty 8 in the next few days for home defense so I'm looking for an inconspicuous lock box/container that can be bolted down to a wall or ground and can be easily accessed. I just want it somewhere people can just simply walk past it and not think there's a shotgun inside and I can open and take it out to use if something was to arise. Any opinion is greatly appreciated.

I've been looking for months, and this type of thing is the best that I have found so far. I think there are a few other brands in similar styles.
Hardly inconspicuous though. Any metal box with an obvious lock on it screams at anyone looking to steal your stuff.
My thought was to put one in the wall behind my office door. So if the door is open, it covers the wall safe, making it not so obvious. Another option is on the wall inside a closet.
I don't think any that I found were CA approved as "safes" for gun storage. (notice disclaimer at bottom of page)
If you find anything better, definitely post an update, as I'm interested. -
After watching "It takes a thief", they usually flip pictures and always check the closet after breaking in.
I'm looking around the house for a better place... unfortunately, the "better" places are usually harder to get to.Comment

Exactly. Given that, my philosophy is that if someone breaks into my house when I'm not home, they can take whatever they want, as long as they're gone when I get home. I will file whatever police report is required, and then file an insurance claim and buy new guns.
For me, the gun 'case' or GunVault for my pistols is more to keep guns out of my 2 yr old daughter's hands, keep them semi-secure, but keep them accessible if I need to get to them in 10 seconds. If someone breaks into my empty house, there's very little, short of a massive gun safe, that would stop them from stealing my guns. But I don't consider a gun safe to be a great place to store an HD gun.
So I'd like something that is secure, yet easily and quickly accessible. It's pretty difficult for a rifle or shotgun.Comment
