Beretta A L2 holds two or three shells in mag?

I inherited a Beretta A L2 12 guage with engraving on the receiver with a vented Poly Choke tube. It took it out today to see how it works and it works great.

My question is I was using 2-3/4" shells and it would only accept two shells in the magazine. The two rounds wouldn't budge at all more foreward after they were loaded and trying to load a 3rd. As long as the mag tube "looks", I thought it would hold more than just two shells. Then I thought ok well there is a gas piston gizmo in there somewhere that I'm sure takes up some of that space but still seems like it should hold at least 3?

Looked on Berettas site for a similar semi auto and it sells and it said holds 3 in mag but plugged to 2 rounds.

Should mine be able to hold three rounds in the mag or just two?

What exactly and why would it be plugged to 2 rounds? I saw a You Tube vid of a guy in CA who bought a Moss 500 that was limited to two rounds by a wooden dowel and showed how to remove it to load all 6 rounds in the mag. I know this gun is way older than all of the assault ban high capacity crap, so not sure why an old gun like this would be plugged, if it is.

I know I got it for free and shouldn't complain LOL but just curious as to how many should be able to fit.

Found out they are plugged for hunting reasons. Took the forend grip off but couldn't figure out how to get into the tube. Threaded rod seems to be directly attached to the end of the tube (tube cap). Looks like some kind of tiny pin that holds the tube cap and rod to the tube but I'm not going there. Think it would be easier to just take it to a shop and ask them instead of screwing something up.

Never mind, I figured it out.

The tiny little lock pin that keeps the tube cap/rod assembly in place is what concerned me. Wasn't sure what would happen to it or where it might fall to, if I pressed it in or if I could re-install it when I was ready to reasemble.

Finally just said egh go for it. Just depress it ( I used pointed tip of soldering iron), while at the same time unscrewing the cap. It's not really a "pin" persay but it's one of the two ends of a spring, almost exactlly like the spring in a clothes pin. Finally found a DIY for a different model Beretta but basically if not the same guts.

I could see why one site recomended a gunsmith. Screwy over engineered design for sure. All good now, not really hard once you have done it once but the hell if I will ever put it back in. You could probablly just take the silly spring out and leave it out, which I think some people did, since the cap/stock screw keeps everything in place from backing out anyway.
