    remington 870 express super mag

hey guys i managed to pick up my first shotgun today at bass pro shop, i havent gotten the chance to shoot it yet but i will tomorrow..i was wondering why the mag capacity is 3 if they are 3 1/2" shells and 4 if they are 2 3/4" or 3" shells, is there a particular reason? and can i buy a mag extender for this model..please post up links if you know where to find them at..thank you

there are lots and lots of places to buy mag extensions and 870 accessories from. you just have to decide which one to buy.

Say your magazine is 12 inches long, and each shell is 2.75 inches that means that you could only fit four because 4 2.75 inch shells are 11 inches in total length.

Now if you have four 3.5in shells they will be 14 inches in total length, so you could only fit three in a 12 inch magazine.

And yes you can buy a magazine extension, I got one on my 870 express, your magazine might have dimples though and those will need to be filed down before adding a magazine extension.

BTW: shells are measured after fired when un-crimped, before shooting a 2.75in shell will be about 2.5in, after firing it will be 2.75in.

If you want adapt the mag tube to accept a tube extension simply go to www.aiptactical.com and put your cursor on the Customer Service Link. In the drop down box you will see a "How To Video" titled "Tube Extension Kit". Follow that video and it will done correctly.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.
