    Saiga AOWs in production now

Well, I dont even know if you California people can even get AOW tax stamps in your state, but here's a little teaser for everyone out there....Cadiz Gun Works is now manufacturing saiga shotgun AOWs. First one up that was built and paperworked is a .410 (test-fired yesterday up at CGW), 12's and 20's are soon to follow in the coming months.

Heres a couple teaser pics for you guys....

Ill give Tom a call later, and get approximate pricing on the different gauges, and a lead time for production. It sounded like the office is in a whirlwind this afternoon when I spoke to Tom a little while ago, but Ill give a call later and get some numbers for everyone.

question - do you CA guys still need a bullet button on an AOW? I would THINK you didnt need one any more, seeing how its a registered NFA item, but can one of ya'll verify that for me, please?

YES! Having a tax stamp does not exclude it from becoming a Ca AW. So, these would definately need BBs of some sort before coming into the state unless they are being shipped to an FFL with a AW permit.

BVamp, AOW's are unfortunately not exempt from the AW laws, so a Saiga shotgun-based AOW would still need a bullet button.

Other than that, AOW's are perfectly legal in CA, and we already have a dealer here in Orange County (OC Armory) that has his SOT and can handle transfers.

I think we have OC armory on file, actually...thanks for the info on the BB, I have the office drawing up pricing....ill post later when I hear back.

So far as I am aware you are looking at the very first Saiga AOW made to date, built by the first to convert a saiga shotgun, and also the first to make said conversion select-fire.

Another first for Tom Cole....I think SN 3 is still available, btw....

AOW status does not exclude the firearm from the AW or Roster Regs. As an AOW, it is exempt from CA's SBS and smoothbore pistol regs. Oh, and since it is a pistol, the Roster would apply, so it would need to be imported in a roster-exempt configuration. So, in addition to the maglock, it would need a SLED (zero-round magazine) installed to make it single-shot.

Correct, it would need a Bullet-Button so that it wouldn't be considered a Pistol AW, per the detachable magazine outside the pistol grip. In addition, as pictured, the VFG is an additional evil feature if it has a detachable magazine. With the BB, both the VFG and the magazine outside the grip don't matter.

Since these are apparantly built on new "never had a shoulder-stock" receivers, they don't meet the CA-defintion of a shotgun, so the Shotgun AW reg shouldn't apply. What that would mean is that it may be possible to have some of these made PG-only with 18" barrels (and 26" OAL) and run them with a detachable magazine

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Now we are talking! We would just need a magazine lock and a single-shot sled.

clarification - this *IS* an AOW - NOT A PISTOL. This is approved by the ATF for Tom Cole of Cadiz Gun Works to manufacture and paper AS an AOW....a LOT of people and builders said this couldnt be done, but there it is....Tom has done it. There will be no discussion on how he achieved this and got 100% BATF complaince, but again, this is NOT A PISTOL. This is a registered AOW.

To further expand on the point of "never had a shoulder stock", is there anything like a bullet button for shoulder stock, so you can just plug a shoulder stock in and remove it afterward?

I am in California, and will something like this be legal here?
