You will need interchangeable choke tubes. Skeet is shot with open chokes, Trap with tight ones and sporting clays somewhere in between. Get a gun with the barrel length that feels good to you. barrel length is more a personal choice.

      Choke choices,

Is your question more regarding what brand of choke or what choke restriction you use for each game? I can say this, on my Beretta shotgun I use the "Mobil" choke tubes in modified for trap and 5 stand. Then I bought a 30" Browning barrel that fit my Beretta and used modified choke for that barrel. My scores went down, the Invecta modified choke shot more like a "full" choke with the same load.

You just gotta try the choke restrictions in your barrel and your load. If your unsatisfied with the patterns, then try another aftermarket choke system that uses your thread size, there are many brands: Truloc, Carlson's, Puregold, etc.

I like carlson chokes, get them at phillip's wholesale in covina... Extended chokes were like 25$ I think. Can't go wrong with briley either

I shot several rounds of 16 yard trap with my new O/U this past weekend. I set the tubes up with Modified on top and Improved Cylinder underneath. I had pretty equal results with both although I was shooting under a bit with the bottom, not used to it. I also shot a round with a pump gun with a Modified tube in it and scored very well.

For skeet wide open is best... skeet or Cylinder tubes all the way.

For sporting clays an Improved Cylinder and a Modified would probably cover most of the course on an O/U.

The only way I'd shoot full choke on clays is handicap trap from way back.

Use mod and IC would be the best choice I can come up with. Not perfect and you'd be better off changing chokes.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

I shoot with a Winchester supreme with Briley extended cyl on top and skt choke on the bottom. just trying to figure something else out for my Mossy reserved...

don't know if I should go with the same set up or try something different.

forgot to add, I'm basically asking if there is one set up that would work well for all three games.

                thanks all for the replies!

I had my guns choked by Briley. For skeet, I use cylinder/cylinder, trap for 16 yards light modified, 21 yard handicap improved modified. For sporting clays different chokes for different stations. If you use one gun, single barrel: light modified and over/under: light modified and improved modified, my choice.

I run with improved cylinder and modified for sporting clays. I rarely swap them out during the day.

                          Choke tubes

I would suggest Carlson chokes, they probably offer the best choke combination with a huge variety for the dollar than anyone else. They also offer multiple discounts and free shipping based on how much you spend.
Briley is also great but too pricey for me.
