Interstate 982 with hogue stock problem

I put a Hogue stock on my Norinco 982 and there is about a 1/4'' gap between the stock and receiver. Is this going to case any issues or is it purely cosmetic? It feels solid.

you can take a dremel and grind down the part that fits into the receiver (very lightly). make sure you dry fit it often till it fits, thats what i did. good luck fitting a remington made forend on though, i couldnt figure that out

Lose the receiver stock bearing plate. You don't need it. Also the receiver stud on the 982 is longer. It's probably keeping the stock from fitting flush because it bottoms out. You might have to grind it down a little. I had to shorten the receiver stud length so a Mesa Tact stock adapter would fit flush on a 982.
