    hawk 982 sling problem

i tried to attach my shotgun sling to the 982 hawk (remington 870 clone)

i was told that if i buy the 870 remington shotgun sling swivel adapter kit i would be able to use it, si picked up uncle mikes kit, but the screw that goes into the synthetic stock is not right (the thread on the screw is rather wide)
the thread in the stock where the screw goes in is very fine

    any ideas???

You got the wrong set.. One comes with a machine type screw and other is just a wood screw... The hawk 982 stocks are much better quality than the 870 stocks.. The hawk's recoil pad and the swivel stud are actual machine screws... The 870 stocks just use wood screw to screw into the plastic...

I've never actually tried the threads tho.. Does your magazine cap have a machine swivel stuff with nut on inside? If so i'd take it off and try it then you'll know any startard machine swivel stuff will work

Actually this may not be the case.. Yes the sight screws are metric.. But the stock bolt is not so there is a good chance that the swivel stud on the stock is not either. Hawk 982 and remington 870 stock bolts are both the same 1/4"-28 threads..
So check the way I said above and report back
