Old semi-auto 12ga, possibly US Army?

Hey all, I just saw for private sale an old semi-auto 12 gauge, I think it was a Winchester and it had "US" markings on it, the seller implying it was US military issue. It looked like it could have been 50 years old, with wooden stocks and a choke. I googled a little trying to find out more about it but cannot. Anybody have any ideas as to its possible model, history, value etc? Thanks,

Was it marked "U.S. Repeating Arms", thats the name Winchester was changed to in 1981.

No, the stamp just said US then some sort of symbol. Will look again closer tomorrow, and hopefully take photos...

was is a burning bomb that is a US property marking get a picture of the action and we can tell you what it is

Realize that just because it has US property marks, that doesn't mean that it was actually an military gun. Lots of places sell those stamps. And people have been know to slap them on anything hoping to make a buck of the unwary. I have seen US flaming bomb stamps on everything from German k98 mausers to Glock 22s. Caveat emptor.

Pics would help but I'll bet it's a Remington Model 11.

It has a humpback receiver and looks a lot like a Browning A-5. In fact they share many parts.

Just found it online, it was a Remington Model 11. And he was asking half what they're going for online... Kicking myself...
