    Fully loaded or one down?

I keep my 8-shot 500 one down with 6 in the magazine and 1 in the receiver, ready to be racked forward.

If it was my 870 I'd have 6 in the magazine with the option of a slug as my first shot.

Do you keep your SG fully loaded or do you keep it one down?

I keep my 590 down 2 or 3 rounds, it's a little less front heavy that way. Normally it isn't a problem, but with flashlight hanging off the end it's a little awkward when fully loaded.

what kind of flashlight do you have on your 590?

I have a TLR-1 on my 500 that's attached to a choate forend. I also have a TLR-1 on my Remington 870, its attached to a GG&G forend. So weight isn't a problem because the TLR-1 is small and light.

I used to keep it fully loaded (8 rnd capacity). However, after replacing the tube spring for a third time (had lost a bunch of spring I now keep it down loaded by three.
RIP Louis Awerbuck. I miss you and your training.

Uh... it's Solar Force (no-name brand, but it's well made) tactical light with 2x CR123 batteries and momentary switch. The batteries are the weight, not the aluminum housing. I've got a plastic clamp on the mag tube that provides a weaver rail with a single notch. I use a 1" low profile scope ring to mount the light.

I recently moved the light farther back so it over laps the foreend a little bit. Moving it inboard helped with the balance a lot.

Here's a handy item to top off your down loaded mag, and you can keep your onboard carrier fully loaded.

I keep mine next to my 870 hanging on hook by a rubber band.
