Video: Two shot rapid fire w/pump action

Anyone seen or tried this before:

    Graham Combat Shotgun Demo

I haven't tried it, but it looks insanely fast --I can only assume he has tons of practice.

Since the video is only a small clip without any context, I'm not sure what situation the technique is used for. For HD, is there any need for that quick of a second shot? Or is it something that would help in some type of a competition?

I've emptied my shotgun as fast as possible many times. (That video is pretty fast)

Really sucks when you are bringing the pump forward and catch the empty shell that is coming out.

Of course this is while duck hunting. And I generally can't hit a thing, because I'm flock shooting in a panic; but that's shooting at a small fast moving object between 10 and 30 yards. This is at what, maybe 3-4 yards?
    Looking for a 3" Magnum 870 $200-$250ish

That is hella fast but I don't really understand the difference between what he is saying and just shooting as fast as you possibly can. I'm pretty sure its the same thing...

I'm definitely going to try that next time I go shooting, though I doubt I would be able to be that proficient with even a few hundred shells.

What was he getting at about keeping the gun away from your body, is that the technique he was using to shoot that fast?

Ya, I didn't understand the part about holding it away from the shoulder either. I posted a question on the video to see if he responds to explain the background of the technique.

In the comments under the video, he explains that when you slide the pump forward, you use that forward motion as the mechanism to have your rear hand pull the trigger. So as you chamber the next shell, you don't necessarily need to pull the trigger per se. You just "pull" the gun forward, and let your trigger finger "hit" the trigger.

Maybe that is why he keeps it off of his shoulder--so that the gun can move forwards?

The second question I have is whether this is a novelty, or a practical technique for defensive shooting, or for competition? For HD, if you aim and hit your target, I don't know that a 0.5 second delay on a second shot will matter greatly. And if you didn't aim properly or didn't hit your target, this technique certainly won't help you hit with a second shot coming that quickly.

Anyway, pretty novel technique, and great video at a minimum.

I will never get that fast!! That's why I'm buying a Saiga 12!!! I will unload 10 rounds in that amount of time.

i like his effort in using the recoil to set the shotgun for second shot. seems similar logic or mechanics as double tap for pistol.

i want to try that out.

                            I like this shotgun technique.

thats the same principle used when "bump" firing a semi automatic firearms, using your forward grip to pull the gun forward, pulling the trigger INTO your trigger finger, rather than pulling the trigger like normal. I can see how he has managed to get so fast.

Personally, I don't think its THAT great of a thing. If your a professional shooter/instructor, and you got time/money/shells to use, I can understand the effort. But in a real world situation, just getting that pump back as soon as you pull the trigger, and forward again, should be as fast as you will ever need. If you truly need faster, by an autoloader
