870 wingmaster

It's a bit more refined than the express models. Polished blue, walnut stock. The only piece I've found that is plastic is the follower. Older ones are black plastic, new ones are bright orange.
Oh yeah, new WMs have plastic magazine tube insert under the magazine cap. Yours should be metal which you can pry off (whatever that piece is called holding the spring and follower in the magazine tube) -
If you mean how does it differ from other models then here is your answer.
Very little as there is only one 870 and they only differ by finish and furniture.
The Police is nothing more then a Parkerized Model with three small parts different then the Express and the Express has a polymer trigger plate assembly which is better then the cast metal for several reasons.
The best way to understand this is that the Police Model is a parkerized Wingmaster with different stocks and shorter barrels...The Wing Master is a Blued model with the cast metal trigger plate assembly and barrel used for sport shooting and hunting.
Different models have different stocks and barrels but there is only one 870..
Oh, the biggest differences between the models is the price.Last edited by aippi; 01-26-2010, 8:23 PM.JD McGuire, Owner

Hold up. Just to clarify, don't go stuffing 3" magnums in there if your gun only chambers 2 3/4" shells. Just because the barrel says 2 3/4 and 3" doesn't mean the gun itself can.Comment

As Black Majik stated, Hold UP....... if your Wingmaster has a serial number that ends in the Letter "V" it is a 2 3/4" receiver and no matter what barrel you put on it, you can only shoot 2 3/4" shells.
If it has a serial number that ends in the letter "M" and you put a barrel on it that has a 3" chamber, then you can shoot 3" shells.
I am sure Pops explained that to you but just wanted to cover it again for safety reason. You have a great shotgun now so be safe and enjoy it.JD McGuire, Owner
