Remington 887

I've heard that it's supposed to be remington's answer to benelli"s nova. Kind of like an answer to a question that's never been asked. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if the 887 was a stepping stone to how shotgun design will continue.

Ok it's a toss up between the 887 or the Winchester sx3. What are the reviews on the sx3 winchester

The problem I have with the 887 is the non-compatibility with existing 870 parts.

I've been considering buying a shotgun with a 3.5" chamber for goose hunting. I checked out the new Remington, and I really didn't care for it. Several of the things I don't care for are:
The design seems like it's all show. At least the 'futuristic' designs that Benelli uses are also functional.
The slide comes back so far that it has to have a large notch in it to fit around the trigger guard.
It just simply feels 'cheap'...at least compared to my 870 and my brother's Nova.

I won't be buying one - especially after I read several reviews of the gun rusting after just a single day of hunting. If I want a 3.5" pump, I'll spend a little more for the Benelli.

Or save a little money, get an 870; and clean it after inclement weather. I hunted birds in GA thunderstorms with an NEF breech-loader when I was younger and it's still rust free.

I already have an 870. It's a good gun, but after adding things like additional chokes, a softer butt-pad, sling studs, and a hi-viz sight (all things that come standard on the Benelli), you're paying about the same price...and the benelli pump guns all have 3.5" chambers.

Wow...talk about Apples to Oranges. The SX3 is a great gun. I don't own one, but my brother does. He uses it exclusively for waterfowl hunting. It's a very nice auto-loader. If I ever get a semi-auto 12ga, this will be it.

If you shop around you should be able to find it for just under $1k, new.

Ok trickyvic on here has offered to let me shoot his SX3 at the range, awesome people on this forum. I found the SX3 Field at wild sports for $1091.72 out the door i have been looking around and this is the cheapest i have found

3" or 3.5" chamber? If it's a 3.5", that's a good deal.

3" or 3.5" - Either way, you're getting a good gun. Personally, I don't have any shotguns chambered in 3.5". I don't really see a need for it. 3" works just fine for me.
