Sure, they have been around many years, are well made and get the job done. For the use you stated I recommend them.

In the photo album of my web site you will see a custom 870 that I have built several of with that exact grip on it. Both weapons were for over the road truck drivers that wants the shortest shotgun possible with out having to go the SBS rout.

There is a method to shooting a shotgun with a grip like this on it. I never raise the weapon up to eye level and aim, I simply point from the hip and I keep my right arm loose so it acts like a cam. This helps take some the recoil and since the weapon is moving back as my arm cams back, this also keeps the muzzel down. I hit what I point at and I am very fast with this method on an 870.

I also cheat and wear my weight lifting gloves with padded palms. But I am a whimp so you may not have to.

Oh, one of the drivers e-mailed me several months after getting his weapon and said with that 870 in the sleeper with him he sleeps better then if curled up with a lot lizzard.........

Thanks a lot, how long is the barrel in that picture? I have been looking for picture of shotguns with that stock without luck.

18.5" but your fine on legal length even at 18". Just check your state laws before you do it as some states are not a part of the United States of America when it comes to gun laws.

I got the grip yesterday, so far I like it, but it is a little slick, I was thinking about some type of grip tape, what would you suggest.

Grip tape on a pistol griped shotgun sounds painful. I'd shoot a box of shells with it before making any modifications.

McNett Camo tape. You can get it in various colors, and it doesn't have that sandpaper feel of normal griptape.

ETA I found 3 rolls of ACU on eBay for about $15 shipped, so be sure to shop around.

I was talking about the type of tape they use on wood baseball bats, not that sandpaper stuff, that would hurt!
