So what is 7.5 or 8 shot best for?

Is that what you'd use to bust clays with?

Shooting steel and clays at action matches, otherwise it is good for small game.. Dove, Quail.. also good for trap, sporting clays, some ranges allow it for skeet.

The difference between the Fed game and "target" shells is usually the game loads use lead that is softer which works well for hunting as the lead deforms on impact. Target loads typically use a harder lead shot so that fewer pellets can break the target. In the end its all semantics because the game loads work just as good as the ones branded "target". You will not notice any difference. I've shot countless 100 straights in competition using the 1oz game loads.

          Thanks for the info.

They have Winchester, Federal, and Remington I believe. Any preferences to those? I've heard somewhat bad reviews (jamming issues) with Winchester loads.

NO, NO and Hell to NO to the Winchester Universal mess. There are dozens of post on every shotgun blog about that mess causing extraction issues in all kinds of weapons. The Federal and Remington is good to go and most of the other Winchester but not the Universal target mess.
