    Saiga 12 10 rd question.

Somewhere I read that if you use a 10 rd mag on a saiga 12 you needed some compliance parts to keep it legal. Is this true if the gun is in it's original form except the us made mag? If not then great, just trying to keep out of jail when I exercise my 2A rights.

you need to add one more additional US part, as all ten round mags already add 3 to the foreign gun as per 922r.

easiest one is the handguard or gas tappet/or "puck".

when you pass the 5 round limit on imported shotguns, you have to count parts. on the saiga 12, it is one additional part if you use US mags, which count as 3 by themselves. this is for STOCK IMPORTED saigas, NOT conversions.

922r is a gun regulation, but is technically a tax regulation on imports. I dont think the stock imported gun mag limit is imposed under CA law, actually, but greater than five rounds does require a US parts count on the gun. this information is readily searchable, and is worth sticking to the top in the shotgun section when ya'll hash it out, as it relates even to benellis and all the other imported shotguns, semi auto or not. your US parts count MUST BE a certain amount (varies how many parts to replace per gun model) to pass the 5 round limit, yes even on your pumps. those comp guys with the benellis with the ten round tubes should be REAL careful, and check your laws, for instance.

I didnt write it, but im letting you know what it is. dont shoot the messenger, thanks

edit to add - I apologize, but I will not answer technical federal legality questions officially. I dont mind steering ya'll in the proper direction, but the end game homework, you must do yourselves. It is too much work to keep recovering the actual laws from legal resources. dont worry, you can find it easily enough.

isn't muzzle device another super easy device to add?

i mean you are replacing the foreign made thread protector, or does that not count?

          that counts.

This should help with further 922r related questions:

          Have fun with that project!

So let's review, 1 U.S. made 10rd mag (3 parts) and 1 U.S. Muzzle brake then your good to go being 922r compliant. Correct?

Assuming that the mag remains truly FIXED, seems to be enough.

I am also am not a lawyer, nor did I create that chart. Most folks who use 10 rounders do the whole conversion (PG, Stock, etc..). That scenario allows one to reach 922r compliance much easier, since many more parts are involved.
