Question about Remington 870 mag

whats good size barrel for Remington 870 home defense (tactical)
and what round of magazine extension do i need if i go for 18 1/2" barrel (trying to make it same size as barrel)
please help me out!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the HD versions of the 870 with the extended mag tube uses a 20" barrel and I believe that with the barrel it is using a +2 shot mag tube extension.

that might be a mistake since he's talking about the tactical home defense.

I assume by that you mean the 18 1/2 inch one.
i haven't seen the 20" one, but i would recommend you go to a store and try and find the remington express tactical with the extension already installed. I actually, i think that all express tacticals already have it. i may also be mistaken though. i have one and its a plus 2 extension i believe for 18 inch. that makes it 6 +1

I just put the scattergun technologies 2 shot extension on my 870 HD w/18.5in barrel. I was happily surprised to see it is a wilson combat product when I got it. It is built like a tank, don't need for a barrel clamp. It was a pain in the neck getting those indents out (make sure you see the video on www.aiptactical.com before you try it), I got some bunk information about tapping them out with a deep socket, it jacked up my deep socket and it did nothing to get rid of the detents. does anyone know if I'm supposed to put the black spring retainer back in or is there no need? Get the 18.5" police parkerized with bead sight for around $98.00 and the Wilson 2 round extension for $45.00 and you will thank me later.

because it looks more tactical tho =)
