Removing lead from 870 smooth bore

go to Home Depot and get a 36" 7/16th hard wood dowl and some 000 steel wool. Stretch about half a pad of steel wool over the end of the dowl and tape the bottom off. It will look like a Q-tip. Put this in your drill and run it through your barrel dry. You don't need anything else.

You now have a cleaning and polishing tool that will last a long time as you only have to change the steel wool when it gets worn. Use it each time you clean the barrel. You can even make a shorter one and use a full pad and polish your chamber and mag tube with it.

Hey JD, it worked like a charm. (of course you already knew that!) It took maybe a minute or two with the steel wool to polish off all of the lead streaks and the barrel is now as smooth as glass. I gave the chamber a quick polish as well.

Amazingly easy, and quicker than me trying to use xtra strength chemicals.

I'll polish the mag tube as part of the next cleaning.

Cool beans as that is how it came to you. Makes the barrel look chrome lined. Use the short one with a thicker pad on the chamber and it makes that 870 extract perfectly and use on the mag tube for sure feed.

No take all that money you saved on all that mess some guys were telling you to buy and go buy more ammo and get some trigger time. Have fun and be safe.
