Shooting Slugs

I bet you paid a lot more for the benelli and it shoots the same groups as my Mossberg 500A.

Have you patterned/grouped your present barrel with a few different rifled slugs?
Ammo is cheaper than buying a new barrel. Terrain is also going to dictate some of your choice. How far do you anticipate your longest shot? Where the pigs are around me a 70 yard shot would be a long one, 35 to 40 being the norm. Consider manuvering your gun in brush. Our pigs like brush. An 18 or 20 inch barrel is easier to swing around in tight quarters.
Just some things to consider before opening your wallet for a barrel you may or may not need. The post on Box-o-Truth pretty well spelled it out.

Tell me about it! I bought an extra rifled barrel with my Benelli M2, stupid. I should have just bought a dedicated slug gun instead of just the barrel. Now I need to sell it for loss! Impulse buy sucks.

The 4 different non-rifled shotguns I have tried have all shot under 5" groups at 100 yards with a rifled carlson choke from cabelas and remington buckhammer slugs. The best group was 1.1" at 100 yards. All other combos I have tried (different slugs and chokes) in non-rifled barrels have just plain sucked. I would highly recommend the carlson rifled chokes and remington buckhammer slugs.

Depends. I paid $437 OTD for a brand new 2009 Benelli SuperNova tactical, with use of a rebate coupon and a "2009 blowout sale" the store was having at the time. Considering I could've picked up a Mossberg 500 for say $279 + tax, then add a PG rifle stock (which I shoot better with, and want for HD) and GRS and other nic nacs, I would've spent close to the same amount as my Benelli. Plus, I really like how my Benelli feels and shoots compared to a Mossy 500 (I've shot my friend's extensively before ultimately getting the Benelli).

I'm going to disagree with PCH on the longer barrel being more accurate. It's just the opposite. You will get more barrel input from harmonics out of a longer barrel. All things being equal.
