590A1 Forend Tube Length

I want to purchase the Ergo Three Rail Forend for my 18.5" Mossberg 590A1. They offer two sizes:

• ERGO Three Rail Shotgun Forend, Mossberg 500/590 Short 6 5/8'' tube length, Black
• ERGO Three Rail Shotgun Forend, Mossberg 500/590 Medium 7 5/8'' tube length, Black

Does anyone know what the forend tube length is on the 18.5" 590A1?

More than likely it is 7 5/8. I guees to be sure you can measure yours.
Just asking.Why do you need all that rail. Have you shot one with that forend. Does it come with covers?

The purpose for the rail is that the 18.5" 590A1 has absolutely no barrel real-estate to attach flashlight clamp, and I very much want to run a light on the gun, because it is my primary HD firearm. I realize it is an expensive solution for a light mount, but I don't have any better ideas. Also, there is no way I am purchasing the insanely over-priced Surefire integrated light forend.

This forend does come with Ergo's LowPro rail covers.

YOu know, I got a tri-rail for my 500a1. I fliped it upside down with the bottom rail facing up. I put a M4 Carbine Flip-up front post on it and mounted a flip-up ghost sight in the rear rail. Its pretty neat.

Sounds like a cool setup. I have the factory ghost rings on mine.

For future reference, in case anyone is interested, I took my forend apart and it's a 7 5/8" tube.

You might be able to place a small ergo rail directly onto your forend. take it off and check the clearance. you can get a smll ergo rail for 7 bucks, mark, drill, install and test for clearance and tool marks on the magazine tube. if you dont have any problems your good to go. another option would be to dremel a small section out of your forend where you want to place your $7 plastic rail, screw it on your forend and back it up with epoxy. Better yet, drill 2 3/16 holes completely through your forend under where your rail will go tape up the inside so the epoxy does not run out. then epoxy the rail in place. I have used epoxy on a few guns with thousands of rounds through them without a problem. Just a couple of options.

Look into a HighVis follower for your 590,inexspensive, easy install when you swap your forend. Post some pics when its done.
