Just came back from the range today and was told by the range officer that a vertical grip on a semi auto gauge is illegal in cali.....is this correct? As for the s12 it shot fine a couple of fte but the gun is brand new. I was shooting 3" remy magnum oo buck and 2 3/4 winchester slugs about 75 rounds total.10 round promag was sticking at times...anything to cure this? Is promag 10 rd. mags garbage? field stripped and clean ...the gas adjuster plug area was pretty gummed up. Lubed up s12 and it seem like slide is easier to move now....sorry bout the long comment. recoil was not bad at all

Vertical grip illegal on saiga 12?

do you have any factory mags to try in your shotgun?I pledge allegiance to the Eagle with the MP5 of the United Police States of America, and to the fallen Republic which once stood, the New World Order under our new overlords, divided, with tyranny and injustice for all.

All semi-auto shotguns must be equipped with a fixed magazine (bullet button).
The laws are a bit different for shotguns than long guns.
A semi-auto shotgun can not have both:
Telescoping or folding stock
and
Pistol grip, thumbhole stock, vertical handgrip.
Basically, if you're legal with the pistol grip, you're legal with the VFG.
If you have a folding or collapsible stock, you are not legal with either the PG or VFG.
The officer was misinformed.- Rich

Run it througth the Shotgun legality chart, http://www.calguns.net/caawid/sgflowchart.pdf to see how the law applies to shotguns. As you can see, a VFG on a semi-auto shotgun would be an issue if you also had a folding/collapsible stock, but if you don't have a folding/collapsible stock, you can have a PG or a VFG.Jack
Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

You have a fixed skeleton stock so you are good to go with your pistol grip and vg. Sometimes people get confused becus the law reads:
A semi-auto shotgun can not have both:
Telescoping or folding stock
and
Pistol grip, thumbhole stock, vertical handgrip.
A pistol grip is and vertical grip are one evil feature not two seperate ones, like the collapsable stock and pistol grip! Kinda confusing, the range officer probably confused. The subject has come up several times on calguns, but your good to go!Comment
