      Yes,

but a modification has the potential to be dangerous if performed improperly, whereas the factory guns are relatively safe.

          IMO.
Don't modify your shotgun to do this.
It would void the warranty on the shotgun and you could damage your shotgun trying to make it work.

Just acquire one of those Chinese clones, if you want an inexpensive shotgun that can "slamfire".

What's this sudden fascination with pump shotguns and slamfiring? Something from some movie or video game? Having tried it once with a '97 Winchester, I know you can't hit much that way. (Sorta like fanning a single action revolver.)

whitch brings me to my next question could you buy one of these at like big 5 or where do you have to go to buy one??
              thanks everyone for your imput.

This sounds incredibly dangerous. What's wrong with getting a cheap Charles Daly semi-auto or something? It'll cycle faster than anyone could slam fire something.

I did this just yesterday with my Model 12. Friggin FUN and LIGHTNING QUICK! I took out the magazine plug so I could get my full 6+1 fun going.

Now I just gotta get an extractor spring for the ol' girl and I will be good to go

I brought it up the other day. That MAY be the reason for it....

So all these American gun makers are just messing with you guys by preventing their shotguns from doing this? No, they are building safe responsible firearms.

To have a weapon that fires if you fail to release the trigger is unsafe. Anyone with any common gun sence can see that.

I guess I am on the wrong site to find much common sence.

It is a valid question and if nothing provides scholarly fodder.

Wow its interesting to see how many people find this feature useless. Why do they have 7" barrels for ARs, why would someone want a full auto weapon, why do we tacticool/bubba anything. Answer is because we can. The Model 12 and Ithaca 37 where designed to have this lack of disconnect for one reason, and thats to put a lot of lead down range. Yes why not get a semi? Well because maybe someone wants a Relic or is completing there WWII collection. These shotguns served as great weapons and these safety problems are no different then an unsafe person having muzzle climb with a automatic. Its how you handle it.

I did a lot of research on these shotguns and I too want one. My recommendation is to find a winchester model 12 or a Ithaca 37. The Ithaca needs to be older, from what I read the new ones have the disconnect. The knock offs are what you pay for, but IAC has a trench version that looks cool, but I'm not sure if it will have the disconnect or not. As for modifying your current shotgun, I wouldn't recommend it, and I think that a good reliable gunsmith wouldn't either. Also look into Savage, there are some youtube videos of a guy doing this. I only say m12 or 37 because you might get one C&R and I want a shotgun to go with my Garand and 1903a3.
