Trap/Skeet Ammo

What kind of ammo do you buy for trap/skeet?

I usually use 7-1/2 or 8 shot for trap or skeet. Anything larger and you lose number of pellets and anything smaller would be better suited for closer range stuff.

Not to mention, most gun clubs won't let you use anything larger than 7-1/2's

Yep, the cheapest crap you can find will wok just fine. I shoot 1oz of #8's going 1200fps on everything.

I shoot Estate ammo.

I think most of that is in the big cities. Anywhere I've shot around the central valley could care less what you shoot. At least I've never had anyone check my ammo. I did always want to try skeet with buckshot lol!

donbing's got it right, 7.5 - 8 for trap, 9's for skeet.
Skeet is a much closer game and 9's work well. That doesn't that you can't use larger, only that 9's work the best.
Trap is a more distant game so the shot needs to carry more inertia, thus larger shot.
