I shoot Redlands but I live there so no drive for me. Prado is closer but only by a few miles. I'd try Prado and see what it's like, atmosphere and cost, and compare to Redlands and then just make your choice based on those factors. Otherwise buy a clay thrower and head out to some open land and have at it. Much cheaper that way anyway.

it works like lemon grove. you need to be a member at lemon grove, and in order to be a member, you need a sponsor. apparently at esco, you need your membership "countersigned," which is similar, i think. "how do i get a sponsor?" oh, im glad you asked!

all you have to do to find a sponsor at a club like these, is to go to a public shoot. according to the esco website, they have them on weekends, tuesday mornings, and wednesday nights. go to one of these, act like a nice fellow/young lady, and make a couple friends. express your interest in membership, and find the person among the new friends you have made who is willing/able to "sponsor" you for membership in the club! then jump through the necessary hoops, be they general membership meetings, executive board meetings, work parties, selling trap tickets on a weekend etc.. youll be a member in no time!!
membership in a shooting club is well worth the effort you make to actually get into said club, tenfold.

Sporting Clays in the Los Angeles area:

Say what you want about So. Cal. We’ve got restrictive gun laws, we’ve got earthquakes, we’ve got wildfires, we’ve even got “The Terminator” for our governor, but we do have 4 Sporting Clays ranges in the Los Angeles area.

Each of them holds their monthly shoot on a different weekend. Each of them has something different to offer, all are fun to shoot, and all are open to the public.

Triple B Clays is located in El Monte off of the 60 near the 605. It’s a 24 station flat course, in a heavily treed setting. They have 12 hunter stations, and 12 tournament stations, all have “A” & “B” shooting position. Their monthly shoot is on the first Sunday of the month. http://www.triplebclays.com

Raahauge’s is located in Corona off of the 91 between the 71 and the 15. It’s a semi-flat course set in the Prado flood plane. They keep adding new stations and new machines all the time. Their monthly shoot is on the second Sunday of the month. http://www.raahauges.com/

Moore-N-Moore is located in San Fernando off of the 210 near the 118. It’s a great course with hills and valleys in the San Gabriel Mtn foothills. They have 12 stations, 10 of them have “A” & “B” shooting positions. They really are “The friendliest range in southern California”. Oak Tree is located in Newhall off of the 5 near the 14. They have some of the most spectacular views on a sporting clays course anywhere. http://www.oaktreegunclub.com/ (Call before going)

Prado Olympic Shooting Park is located in Chino off of the 71 near the 91. They offer trap, skeet & 5-stand. http://www.shootprado.com/

All of these places offer public shooting so don’t wait until they hold their monthly shoots. Contact the clubs directly for more information.

If you live in Los Angeles and you can’t find a place to shoot, you’re not looking hard enough.

The only thing that I shoot is skeet, so Prado is my choice due to its location. I shoot triple b's once in a while and have been to Oak tree as well. If you choose to go to Prado, the prices are fair and no membership is necessary. Standard rate for trap/skeet is 7$ and 5 stand is 8$. If you buy a 10 pack of rounds, cost per round goes down to 6.50 and 20 pack cost per round down to 6$. It's really a bummer that there's no where in San Diego to shoot skeet, or at least no where that I know of except the now closed Miramar.

Jeez, tell me about it being a bummer in San Diego without Miramar, or San Diego Shotgun Sports Club as it's known now.

I am a skeet shooter, although I do shoot some trap now, and it has really affected the entire area. Without that venue, there is only a few other spots to go to shoot any shotgun sports.

Project 2000 in El Cajon, it's sister The Fish and Game Assoc. in Escondido, Lemon Grove in Alpine and Redlands. There might also be one in the Southbay, but I'm not sure.

If SDSS ever re-opens, and it's sounding more like it won't, it would be fantastic. I'm actually kind of surprised that I haven't seen more skeet guns for sale around here.
