PG addition to Mossberg Security

Hey now, my first post here. Just picked up a Mossy Security and put 30 rounds through it at the local firing range on a rainy afternoon here in SoCal. I hope it never has a person on the receiving end, but if it does that zombie is going to wish he picked a different house. I believe the primary SHTF situation where it may need to be used is after a large, devastating earthquake where services will be down for an extended period of time, possibly months, but I digress.

Anyway, I'm looking to add a PG to it, can anyone recommend one. Is the Mako any good?

get a knoxx spec ops stock

I got a knoxx spec ops recoil reducing stock for my mossberg 500 and really like it. Definitely worth the money.

Tell you the truth? Pistol grips are not all that. I have one on a mossberg and the factory stock is actually a little better IMO. The PG looks all tacticool but it makes the safety and slide latch button harder to access.

Ignore the people gushing for the Knoxx. A pistol grip on a pump-action is wasted. On a semiautomatic, I'd say it's good, but on a pump-action...don't do it. As Rob454 said, it makes the ambidextrous controls harder to reach.

Curious, what range did you go to?

I agree, keep the standard stock. A shotgun needs two things: a flashlight, and you shooting hundreds of rounds out of it until you operate it like second nature.

I have been trying to buy a Mossberg 930 SPX Pistol Grip for 8 weeks +

PG's are of little use. Specifically, no Mossberg should ever have one. Firing from the shoulder is pretty important for any range other than near contact in order to prevent "dear grandma" pellets. If you end up at ranges too close for shouldering, I had no problem firing 3" magnum shells from the hip with a standard stock.

I have a PG with M4 style stock on my 500A. I like it, but mostly for the length-of pull adjustments. I go shooting with the girlfriend and some of my friends that are bigger than me and in seconds it's the perfect length for anyone.

Though....I'll be skinned because I've yet to shoot it with the original stock on it.

My beef with PG's on a Mossberg is the inability to reach the safety from the firing grip. I find Remington's awkward without one due to the location of the action release. I haven't tried an adjustable stock on a shotgun, but I have heard from multiple people that they preferred fixed stocks on SG's due to the recoil and the slack in the adjustment.

Mine really doesn't have slack in it, especially when mounted to the shoulder. The recoil isn't too bad, but I think I'm gonna shoot it this weekend with the original stock on it and see. I do see your point about reaching the safety though.

if it is just a pistol grip, honestly it hurt me, I took it off after 50 rounds. put the regular stock back on. my .02

I have a PG/collapsable stock on my M500a but I like the original stock better. Mines came with it and I got it for 200 bucks NIB so no complaining on my part, but I would perfer the normal stock as I have to use my supporting hand to swith from safety to fire.
