Im looking for choke capability for my M500A

Alright, I think I gotta 20" barrel and Im either going for the VCS which is 200 bucks, or the cheaper route which is the Screw In Choke Adapter.

has anyone ever had experiance with this type of choke system? I have two barrels and I dont mind taping/welding one of these units on it to try out, I just want to ask before I go ahead and get it.

No experience with this device. What load are you trying to tighten up?
A 20" is not a game getter or a trap/skeet length so I'm figuring...home defense? If you're looking to tighten up buckshot loads just try different manufactures. The tightest on the market that I know of is:
Federal LE132, Remington 8 pellet reduced recoil and Hornandy TAP. there may be some smaller manufactures out there with good stuff too that I am unaware of.
The Federal with True-Flite control doesn't start to spread until 13 to 15 yards. It's like firing a slug under 15 yards in most cylinder bore guns. In that light it really takes away the whole benefit of the shotgun (expanding conical pattern). It's great for LE liability issues, pellet accountability, but for the novice shooter it can be a negative to have a "tight pattern". Meaning it's possible to miss.....with a shotgun at close range. Thanks for the info. Im loading my buck shots thats why Im trying to find ways to tighten up the pattern. But I will try those loads to know what my shotgun can/cant do.

Most Mossbergs I've seen have really thick barrels send it to a GS and have them install screw in chokes or send it to VCS and have them tune up your barrel.

Why dont you just buy a barrel for it that has choke threads already done?
One thing that IMO makes shotguns look like azz is a choke that sits screwed to the tip of a barrel. All I can say is Elmer Fudd anyone? Thats what a shotgun with a screw on choke looks liek. A damn blunderbuss

It sounds like what you're after is the combat shotgun sort of thing, so shoot dude, I'd probably go VCS if you can afford it. That said whatever you end up doing, there are a lot of options at reasonable prices, I wouldn't hastily resort to trying to D.I.Y. without the right tools.

A factory Mossberg barrel at 24" with choke could probably be had for 120 bucks right now... No biggie.

3006mv.....nice find. good price for a VR barrel with chokes. As long as it's a standard 500 (5 shot) w/20" and not the 500ATP8 (8shotmodel) w/20" barrel.

The VCS is the way to go you'll get a tight pattern and less recoil.
