A friend of mine just got a railed forend like this <http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/SHT078-1.html>. Then he put a little Streamlight TLR on the left picatinny rail. It looks awesome and the TLR light is in the perfect spot for operation with your thumb.

Here is a link to a post about my Mossberg 500. Included are pictures, and even a video of my solution for mounting a light to it. Having tried a bunch of stuff - this was the most secure, most convenient, least obtrusive, AND cheapest method of mounting a light.

The collar itself is only 30 bucks, plus the cost of some loctite. Then you can mount whatever light you would like. I've put a hundred or so slugs, and hundreds of rounds of 00 buck through this gun with the light attached, no problems.

I like that laserlyte collar. Great item. You can get a pressure switch for the light too. Replaces the back plate switch so you can attach the coil wire pressure switch to the forearm, if you wish, temporary lighting or strobe affects while moving. Be sure that whatever light you choose make it an LED. The incandesent bulbs just won't stand-up to the 12ga. pounding for long.

That laserlyte is set up on a 500. I have a 590A1 with 18.5" barrel and I don't think that will fit on there. It says it takes up 1.5" on the fore-end, and there is definitely not 1.5" of space on my configuration. The cap is different on the 590A1, because the tube is open. It's just a take-down screw on the 500.

The MT clamp is 1" wide Its say's that it will work with the 590, but maybe only the 9 shot

I don't get it - the magazine tube on a 590 is exactly the same thickness and should be at least as long right?

                I might be missing something.

The 930 SPX is loaded with features that attracted me to it, and the price was a bargain compared to what a comparable package would cost from Remington or Benelli, which are the other two tactical shotguns that I have experience with and was considering for a semiauto shotgun purchase. The Mossberg 930 SPX is a 12 gauge semiautomatic gas-operated shotgun. There are two gas ports that drive a piston that surrounds the magazine tube beneath the barrel. This moves a pusher with two short

I took a pic of my 590A1 tube to show you. The flash kind of screwed things up, but you can see that it is less than 1" of space.

Of course, the 20" model doesn't have that problem.

That makes sense now that I can see it.

Unlike the 500, the 590 looks like you could use a mag extension. If you were using a mag extension, the collar should work - so should that Nordic components clamp. In fact, on an extension, the clamp is probably the best idea.

That's right. I'm actually putting one of the vang comp +1 extensions on mine in the near future, and I have been thinking of putting a clap on it. Although that may make field stripping a bit of a pain, so I'm not sure.

Go with the Gun Connection +2 extension if you want to clamp something to it. The Vang extension is too short for that. MAX100 on this board makes & sells the +2 tubes. Link to pic of the +2 tube: http://i688.photobucket.com/albums/v.../590A1Full.jpg

As for the light mount, I am also looking for one to clamp onto the mag tube between the barrel lug and forend. There's 0.75" space there. The Mako BSR-1 mount looks like a good one. It's designed for an AR15 barrel but with longer screws it will work on a shotgun mag tube. A guy on another forum uses that same mount. Here's what it looks like on a 500 Breacher w/ +2 extension: http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/t...o/shotgun1.jpg
