    Mossberg 500 sling

I am looking to purchase a good sling for my new Mossberg 500 combo I picked up at Big5. I really, REALLY want one with loops that can hold spare rounds of ammo. Does anyone have a recommendation for a high quality sling that safely and securely holds shells?

The shotgun will mainly be used for hunting, HD, and trap shooting, but it would be nice to be able to load up some spare ammo in case of SHTF.

Blackhawk sells a shotgun sling/bandoleer model that holds 15 rounds in the sling itself. I've not used it though, just throwing it out there.

I've heard the sling shell holds arnt so good in a real situation as its awkward and gets in the way. it also adds weight to a gun which is already 8 lbs and doenst need any more...

I don't know about slings but between a side saddle and a butt cuff, you could get like an extra 10 rounds on the shotgun.

I ended up ordering the Blackhawk sling from Midway USA. I realize that the extra ammo can get in the way, but if nothing else I got a high quality sling for $15. I have poked around a little bit and asked people I know with shotguns, and the consensus is that the Blackhawk sling was really nice.

Ammo on your sling will counter balance the barrel as you move it. It will take twice as long to stop on target or it will cause enough movement to have misses. Side saddles, butt cuffs (although ammo on the stock will pre-clude bi-lateral shooting) are the best solutions for extra ammo ON the SG. Although the elastic butt cuffs have to be replaced every so often, when there is no ammo in them you can shoot off that side of the stock without much discomfort.
That is my main complain with Mossberg's Pursader, the fixed side saddle shell holder on the off side. Lefty's can't use the gun, without removing something they paid for.
But Crusader has made his selection and if nothing else he has a good sling, just don't store ammo on it and expect to shoot well.

I do not plan on holding a full 15 rounds on the shotgun, unless S truly HTF. I just thought it would be a good option to be able to hold 5 rounds down towards the buttstock of slugs, birdshot, or buckshot, depending on what I'm hunting/defending myself from. It should have shipped today, I'll post a report when I receive it.
