Shotgun suggestions for $450 budget please

I'm looking to buy a shotgun next week. Primary use is for waterfowl, and then some range use (in that order). I'm not partial to semi's-vs pumps, but do prefer a camo finish. MAX price for gun will be set at $450 plus fees and tax. Prefer new but am open to good deals.

So far, I'm leaning towards the Benelli Nova. It fits me much better than an 870 (which I've shot many cases of shells through) so getting an express or used wingmaster is out. Another suggestion to me was a Stoeger Condor O/U or a Stoeger 2000. However, I've heard personal accounts of the 2000 jamming, especially on cold weather. Haven't shot one myself though.

All in all, I've shot many different shotguns (Winchesters/Ted Williams, Remington's, Benellis', and USAS-12's). However, never actually thought about investing in one until now. Also, my first time for duck hunting is next month as well!

As always, thanks for any input.

Since you are going to use it primarily for birds you might as well go with an over/under. I have heard good things about the Stoegers. They aren't fancy like the Italian guns but they are in your price range. I want to buy a Condor Outback for birds myself.

Look at the used racks or on this forum. Last year, I picked up a 12g Rem 11-48 for $250. It would make a decent duck gun. I think I paid $450 for an almost new 390 a few years ago. So, there are some good deals around if you hunt for them a bit.

If you do go with Benelli you should strongly consider the SuperNova over the Nova.

Mossberg 500 is not a bad pick, usually comes with a 28" barrel for bird hunting so it be also used for hunting and HD. The price is about 300 dollars.
