Need advice on replacement Mossberg stock

This might of been asked before but here goes:

    I have a Mossberg 500 18 1/4 barrel ( Like 3 million other people)

I already have a Tacital light clamp mounted on the barrel
So I want to get a New rear stock ( I put a pistol grip only on it Years ago now want to change to get more use out of it )

Who makes the Best one ?????

Is it better to go with a AR type adjusting type ??( With pistol grip )

Or a fixed stock with pistol grip ???

Pistol grips on shotguns are wasted unless you're running without a stock and want to make it into a cruiser. The recoil will throw the grip back into your hand and make it far less comfortable to shoot. However if you've been running with one for this long all the more power to you.

If you want a standard recoil-reducing stock, I'd suggest the Compstock. A limbsaver pad wouldn't hurt either.

        Good point about the ::

The recoil will throw the grip back into your hand and make it far less comfortable to shoot.

It does do that with the pistol grip I have on it now
For years it was my " Camp Gun " .......Easy to stash /quick to grab

Now I want to do some tactical shooting with it .So I'm looking at what would work best

          This http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct...tnumber=911719
          just the stock http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct...tnumber=169170

You will really like the shorter LOP = Length of pull
I would stay away from pistol grip stocks with a mossberg. Hard to reach safety without changing strong hand grip.

If you really really want one Ill sell you mine but you wont like it. Nobody that shot by gun liked the pistol grip.

That's an additional problem with the PG on a Mossberg, is the ambidextrous safety is out of the way. This is why if you want a recoil reducer I'd recommend a Compstock rather than the universally-raved Specops stock. You could try a Specops stock with a Breachersgrip, that should reduce the recoil hitting your hand.

Pistol grips on Mossbergs are no good, mostly for the reasons listed (safety is out of reach) Recoil reducing stocks are, as Jeff Cooper was fond of saying "A solution to a problem that doesn't exist".
Ladies and Gents, proper stock fit, mount and stance will eliminate 99% of your recoil issues (even with slugs). In my experience, training civilians, law enforcement and military personnel at a well known facility in NV., once the LOP is right, the pocket is found and your cheek weld is firm, the gun merely pushes you in recoil. However, have a stock that's too long, place the stock on the deltoid muscle, have a loose cheek weld or lighten your grip as you press the trigger and the SG gets a "running start" at your body parts. When the stock slaps or slams your shoulder it's not being held (mounted correctly). If your face is getting "moused" (reddened or bruised under your cheek) your cheek weld is too loose or your body position is wrong and you've place your head on the stock (head cocked over the stock) instead of raising the stock up to your face.
If you just have to have the pistol grip, buy a Remington,Winchester or a Benelli. They all have cross bolt safeties and then you're back in business.
Some argue that the PG allows for simular feel between pistol and AR rifle. True enough, funny thing is to watch a "tap, rack" malfuntion clearance on a shotgun because the operator was accustomed clearing his AR rifle. I like the differences, it reminds me I'm shooting a different weapons system.
