+1. And if you have the cash and inclination - even a $890 gun is itching to be bubba'd just fo the fun of it - and with nicer gizmos.

I don't get some of the barbs shot at gunnies who like to pimp-out their toys. Now if the gun is the primary HD weapon, I think mods need to be wisely considered, when it comes to your families health and safety function should trump form, but for all other guns, as long as it's safe and legal - own it, mark it, do what you want if it makes you smile.

Sure, some purists will hoot and holler that you have no taste, or you're some ninja wanna-be, or lack respect for such a fine piece, well if they don't appreciate what you're doing to the gun, they can go buy one of their own and tweak it to their own desires or leave it wrapped in the factory box locked in their safe.

Wanna try make a silk purse out of a sow's ear by adding rails, lights, bayonets, sirens and a Popiel pocket fishing rod? Have at it, please post the pics, and ignore the critics.

I have nothing against bubba'ing cheap guns, but there has to be a conservation movement for these old war horses. Remember, we've seen what this phenomenon has done to many great old guns--once common, now absolutely rare and into obscurity because of over-zealous sporterizers.

There kind of is a line somewhere... Obviously if it's a mismatched piece you payed less than a hundred dollars for, fine. But I mean butchering collector grade stuff? Eek, it gives me the shivers.
