Might help if you mention what model shotgun and stock you have.

        I bet its a M500
and the stock bolt is too long and interfering with the safety.

Or you squitted Loc-tite into the receiver stud instead of putting a drop on the bolt. If you did that and the loc-tite got into the receiver and trigger plate assembly then you have locked up the weapon. If it is an 870 and that is what you did then you need to call me so I can talk you through fixing how you can fix this yourself without going to a gun smith. This is one of the issues on my recent Post - Gun Smith only- wortst do it yourself jobs you had to fix.....so it has happened before. My telephone number is below

Yes it was a moss500. Did not use any locktite, and its the original screw for the stock. Thinking about taking it in but its gonna cost me.

My money is on the stock bolt is set too deep or the stock is not set on right.

Suggestion... take the replacement stock off, put the original stock back on. Don't over tighten the bolt. See if the problems still exist. If not, then the fit of the replacement stock and length of the bolt are the most likely causes.

Are you trying to charge when empty? Are you depressing the release button? It might be as simple as that.

You need a wood stock set to make it all right again. Sorry... just funnin' ya.

Add a washer (or 2 or 3 between the stock bolt head and the stock.

                      Report back.

Even if it's the same stock bolt, chances are the old stock and new stock require different stock bolt lengths. Contact the manufacturer of the new stock and ask what type of bolt to use.

Set both stocks side by side.Put the bolt in both of them and you will see if the bolt is longer in one or the other.
