Field stripping a Maverick 88

Before I end up with some parts left over...does a Maverick 88 field strip just like a Mossberg 500 even though the safety on the 88 is on the trigger guard and the Mossberg is up on the tang? I've had a 500 apart before with no problems but didn't want to tear down a buddies shotgun "in the dark"...I know about not messing with the trigger pack after it's removed...Also his 88 has the 2 slide guide rails like the 500 (I understand some older 88's have only one guide rod...

Any help appreciated...just trying to help out a neighbor...
