Skeet shooting?

Skeet are low flying across the ground like quail and trap are in the air like dove. At my local range it is $6 per round of 25 clays. -
At my local range (Burro Canyon Shooting Park) they charge $35 per hour to use their "sporting clays" range. That $35 gets you a box of 135 clays too. You bring your own shotgun and ammo.
I see a lot of people shooting $99 NEF single-shot guns there. Personally I usually use a Mossberg Silver Reserve (over-under, which was something around $399 at Big 5. It's tremendous fun, but one main reason why I've done mostly trap shooting lately is that pistol/rifle ammo is so hard to find!! But the 100-round pack of #7.5 and #8 shot is still only $22 at Wal Mart, and there's always plenty in stock.Comment

Actually, in skeet the birds are flying crosswise in front of you, while in trap the birds are flying away from you. The main difference, however, is that in skeet you know exactly where the birds are flying before you shoot, and in trap, you don't know which direction or what angle the birds are coming out of the house."We got too many gangsters doin' dirty deeds, too much corruption and crime in the streets. It's time the long arm of the law put a few more in the ground...."Comment

That is also another difference. if you want to go sometime and are near me I will bring some shotguns out for you to try before you buy if you like.Comment

I'm in Sac and reguarly shoot skeet with a friend at either Cordova or Yolo. PM me if you ever want to come out and join us.
Here's a good read on both trap and skeet.
Around Sac skeet prices are as follows;
Cordova shooting center- $6.75 p/game + one time hazard fee of $3
Sac Valley- $6 not sure if they have a hazard fee
Yolo- $6 + $2 hazard feeComment

I shot trap for several years in college (on my own, not with the school) using my dad's old SxS and a mossberg 500 with a 28" barrel and Modified choke tube. Both worked just fine. You don't need anything fancy for trap. Not at the begining levels. Pretty much anything with a decent choke will work. My personal recommendation would be to get one of the combo packages at big 5 or turners when they have them on sale. Something with a long barrel and a short extra barrel. You basically end up with one gun that can do 90%+ of all your shotgunning needs.

I highly recommend the Big 5 Mossberg combo, my bud started with one and it was a great gun. 100% flawless.I shot trap for several years in college (on my own, not with the school) using my dad's old SxS and a mossberg 500 with a 28" barrel and Modified choke tube. My "clay shooting" is sooo ghetto. We just go to the desert and use a hand launcher... Two mossy 500's, 2-3 boxes of clays, and 3-4 federal multi-packs from wally world and we have a blast! (no pun intended). With 4-5 people it's not bad at all. Ends up being 30 bucks or so each for a trip (including gas from OC to barstow area). Great fun for hours!Originally posted by MutePeople who get their life lessons from Disney cartoons are, how can I say this diplomatically, fricking retards.Originally posted by ar15barrelsIf you guys all shot more, you would have more to post about.Comment

I got my Mossberg 500 combo at Sports Authority long ago, and it is still going strong. Even after literally 10,000+ shells.Originally posted by aplinkerIt's OK not to post when you have no clue what you're talking about.Comment

If you buy your own (clays), where do you shoot it at?Originally posted by TheOriginalFlavor$9 for a 90 box of clays.
$22 for 100 rounds of sport loads.Ever been overcharged for PPT? (more than $35?) Contact BBB and submit a complaint to get your $ back!Comment

Me and my buddy bought maps from BLM of the closest "rural" area (barstow area) and basically anywhere on there where it's BLM land and not a recreation area, you can shoot. The maps are really good investments if you're looking for somewhere public and want to make sure it's not private. Just my $.02Originally posted by TheOriginalFlavorWhat public lands do you guys usually go to for clay shoots?Originally posted by MutePeople who get their life lessons from Disney cartoons are, how can I say this diplomatically, fricking retards.Originally posted by ar15barrelsIf you guys all shot more, you would have more to post about.Comment
