    Youth 1100 Barrel?

I want to put a longer barrel on my sons youth 1100. The gun is in 20 gauge. Would any 1100 barrel fit the gun ?

Hate to disagree, but yeah, any 1100 barrel should work. The only real change in 1100's for just about any purpose is the barrel. I wouldn't go and throw a 3" chambered barrel on there if it's only got a 2 3/4" on it now, but any 20ga 2 3/4" should work.

And my credentials are that I'm one of the gunsmiths at the Remington warranty center for the southwest.

Ditto to waht Pulsar said. I think you are refering to the 1100 LT with the youth stock and it has a 21" barrel on it now. Any of the 1100 LT barrels will fit. the is a 26" with Rem choke part number 242643 that would be your best bet as you can change out the chokes and it is in the matte finish like the weapon I think you have. It retails for $204 from Remington.

Thanks for the help!!. My sons gun is blued . The barrel is only 22 inches. He trap shoots it once a week and hunts with it a couple of times a week . I want to give him a little more range. I should've looked at the barrel first. It's marked lt-20. When he gets older will a adult 1100 20 gauge stock fit this gun?

ETA - I'm voting with orangevale, who posted just as I was putting this together!

I understand there are fit issues on 20g 1100 barrels, depending on age. Older barrels won't fit on newer receivers, and vice-versa:

                From barrel maker Hastings:

Here's a note from someone on another board:

Early Model 1100 and 870 20 Ga. shotguns were built on the 12 Ga. frame. The serial number ends in an "X" or a "N". The barrel guide ring (gas cylinder) brazed to the barrel, was a 12 Ga. ring. These barrels are no longer available from the factory as they were discontinued in 1978. The barrels sold now are for the LT 20, which is built on a narrower frame. Its smaller barrel guide ring will not fit over the large frame magazine tube. A quarter will not fit through the LT-20 barrel ring.
There are three total frame variants made for an 1100 20 ga.

The old, pre 1977 20 ga 1100s were built on the standard 12 ga frame (receiver).

There was a 20 ga built on the 28 Lightweight receiver in the mid 1970s that was short lived (I think this is the LW) and replaced by the "LT-20" that was introduced in 1977.

The "LT-20" is the version that "survived" to the present day.

It is readily distinguishable by the lowered relief cut toward the back of the ejection port.

Barrels do NOT interchange among the three, distinctly different 20 ga variants.
I can't tell you who's right here, just that this is what I found when I researched barrels for my LT-20 a while back.

You also want to consider what you'll be using it for, as 1100 barrels have different gas port sizes, depending on the barrel length and use. For instance, my LT-20 Magnum with 28" barrel wouldn't cycle light loads very well, and that's what I wanted it for. I drilled out the gas port, and it works fine now, though magnum loads would batter the works if I used them now.
