    Recommended low end target throwser

    Hi all

I am looking to buy a clay target launcher for my friend's ranch... He has power to the range, and cable pull is fine. I was thinking something simple and light to start, and I would build a trolley to move it around and allow different angles, then we could put it back in the shed when done (for protection).

I know this isn't a lot, but I don't want to spent more than $1000 all up... This guys isn't a clay target professional, so it's more for fun than any sort of serious practice.

I notice Cabelas has Atlas traps? Any advice?

real low end ones are less than $50. You just have to manually cock them every time and pull a release cord. BTW, I don't think your $1000 limit is too low. You should be able to find a decent straight thrower for that or less. I've seen cheap ones for $500 but, I don't have any experience with them.

Me and my buddies us a hand held one that we just attached a 5' piece of PVC pipe to and it throws good. That is if you wanna go really cheap like $10.

I have two of those cheap red ones that you throw manually and they work. I love it for when on the go in the hills just playing around just make sure you know where you are shooting.

I own a cheap "pull the cord" thrower, but I rarely use it anymore because hand throwers are actually more fun. A stationary thrower puts the clays in about the same place on each throw, while hand throwers allow for a lot more variation.

I recommend getting 3 of the $8 Winchester brand hand throwers from walmart (best one I have tried) and you load all three up and throw them one after the other. Really gets the shooter working for it

dont they have those clip ons to make one thrower chuck two at a time? Imagine loading up 6 and having the shooter hit all of em with their over-under!

The "throwser" made me chuckle hard! I don't know why, it just did. From this day forward the guy pushing the button or manually launching the clay pigeon will be dubbed as such!

                Launcher

I think this thread is getting off track I already have a manual launcher, and really need to get an automatic machine.

Just looking for some recommendations :-)

Half the reason I first posted in this thread is that in about six minths, I might be interested in an automated one myself. I guess, I'll have to look at them carefully at SHOT.
