mossberg 590 trigger job? has anyone done it?

has anyone done or know of a mossberg 590 trigger job? has anyone done it or have instructions on what can be done to smooth out the action on one of these?

The only thing I've done to mine so far is improve the safety. Mine is an A1 with a metal safety, but damn that thing was stiff.

So, I ordered one of these:

And then took the whole thing apart and you'll find there is a ball detent and spring which creates the tension on the safety button. I carefully trimmed half a ring off the spring at a time until I had the tension I wanted on the safety button. Now I have a great button and just the right amount of tension on it.

Call me crazy, but it's generally not like a shotgun needs a trigger break like a glass rod. It's nice, but not what I'd look for first.

If you want to smooth out the action, shooting and working it, combined with a bit of lube should break it in nicely. My 500 is 20 years old or so and it's smoothed out nicely over time.

i have a 590. it is my hd shotgun. i added a surefire light, pistol grip, trijicon reflex. but i would never think of doing a trigger job on it. the trigger pull is good enough for what it is.

i do trigger jobs on my handguns and rifles. never on a shotgun.

I wouldn't really make it so its a hair trigger but the ones I have shot in the past, you really had to yank back on that trigger which I have found pulls the gun up a bit. I pick my 590 up this week so I was just wondering if there was a common trigger job people do on these guns. Perhaps the ones I have shot just were not upkept well and not lubed well.

The same job you do on a rifle or pistol.

Good triggers make it easier to shoot slugs at distance.

Some trap guns have release triggers so you can't yank the shot.

I'm not a trigger connoisseur but my 590's trigger seems smooth enough. Maybe you just need to break yours in?

Take it apart and use a dremel to polish the parts. Then use a good trigger grease.

What would you suggest as a good trigger grease? I ususually use miltech-1 for my handguns.
