Stock with integral cheek riser doesn't fit me

I bought a Mossberg 500, one of those nifty combo deals where you get a shot barrel and a slug barrel. The gun came with the slug barrel installed, and included a scope too! In order to accommodate the increased hight of the scope over the barrel, the stock included a rubber riser that moves your head up an inch so and makes it very comfortable to look through the scope when the slug barrel is installed.

But when I took that barrel off and put in the smoothbore one, I discovered that the riser puts my head entirely too high to see down the rib of the barrel correctly! Upon removing the rubber riser, I discovered that it's not just sitting on top of the stock, it's actually a part of the stock! When removed, there's a big hole in the stock where it's supposed to be, so it was obviously meant to have this thing installed. Does anybody know where I can get a shorter one? Here's what it looks like:

If it's like the Benelli Comfortech, they have other size pads you can buy.

Looks like the dual comb stock is a product they make and they don't sell the low comb separately. Couldn't find one on eBay or anything either. I guess I'll call Mossberg and see if they'll sell me one.

Havlin sales will sell you a standard wood stock just like that one, but without the hole in it. You can then get a custom tie-on cheek riser that can simply be removed, and does not otherwise effect the stock when it is not on it.

I think this is your best all around bet. This is ideally what Mossberg should have done for you when they sold you it, instead of selling you something they don't make readily available inserts for. But hey, the 500 is a great shotgun all things considered, and there's really no use crying over spilled milk.

I think you would be far better served to do it yourself on the aftermarket instead of going direct with Mossberg. Save yourself the headache. Anyways, good luck and let us know how it turns out for ya.

            The resolution

So I called Mossberg. The conversation went almost exactly like this:

MeHim: "Can I have your address?"
            Me: [gives address]
Him: "Sorry about that; I just put in an order for another one. It should arrive in a few days."

All I can say is WOW! Mossberg's customer service has me seriously impressed. They didn't ask for the serial number or the date of purchase or anything, and I didn't even have a chance to explain that I got the gun used! I am super-happy about this!
