    I thought they where cotton, isn't cotton biodegradable?

      He means a replacement for the plastic wads. There are photo-biodegradable wads and fiber wads as well as paper shell casings for the environmentally conscious hunters that don't or can't pick up after themselves in the field. Paper/cardboard wads aren't tough enough.

        At current time, i don't think they make any unless you are using the hard cardboard or felt wads.. but personally I limit those wads to loading slugs. There are ways to load lead with them, but your lead will not be encapsulated by a shot cup. In years past, they sold a cut plastic wrap around shot cup. I picked up some of these recently that someone was selling, but I have yet to actually try them out.

            Fiber, felt and cardboard wads have been used to load muzzleloading shotguns for a hell of a lot longer than plastic has been around. Don't worry about LEAD not being encapsulated by a shot cup. Even .410 3" shells don't allow for that to happen.
