What type Cape Gun shotgun is this?

I was given an old side by side black powder shotgun that has some damage to it.
I do not know how old or anything on this..It would be nice if I could get it repaired and able to shoot if possible
I also would like to figure out if it is worth it to even try

Here are the specs I know
    Side by side
    blackpowder muzzle loaded
one bore smooth, the other rifled
    length of barrel 26in
    over length 43 in
strikers on both hammer have been broken off
    trigger gaurd broken also
dog or wulf with a crown on its head engraving on stock
marking on the barrel is "B Zubrod in Homburg" if I am reading it right

    Thanks for your help

If you can't find an answer here at CalGuns, I'm sure the folks at shotgunworld.com can provide you with a definitive answer.

    Cool shotgun! Good luck!

Boy someone really beat the snot out of that one, didn't they? I've never seen one set up quite like that before. Some type of early German drilling gun perhaps?

If Shotgun World doesn't have answers, you might try forwarding your photos to the National Firearms Museum at NRA Headquarters.

It'd probably be a fun project to do some restoration on it, even if it never fired again.

The term that you are looking for is "Cape Gun". One rifled and one smoothbore barrel in a side-by-side configuration.
