      It's Big5, and it's been anywhere from $250 to $290.

Go get it at Big 5 - last time I checked that $20 in store rebate was still in effect so your price should be $259.

I bought one and love it. I'm sure the naysayers (mostly Remmy 870 lovers and Maverick forearm whiners) will come out of the woodwork but hey, it's a great inexpensive shotgun that gives you the flexibility to shoot for sporting or home defense, right out of the box. You'll enjoy it and the $$ you save you can buy some ammo before the new ammo law passes!

I have never heard anyone truly whine about the M88 action tube, it just kind of came as a shock to a lot of people with no heads up. For what it's worth, it's still easily replaceable if you want to switch the fore end out at some point, and even with the money spent purchasing an M500 action tube you are still coming out on top.

The 500 combo is a fantastic deal. I'd recommend the 590 if you have the cabbage to drop as in my opinion that is the holy grail divine nectar of Mossberg shotguns, and for that matter combat shotguns in general. But if you don't, you don't. I didn't, so I bought the 500 8-shot.

The good thing about them is they can all be upgraded down the road. You can get your hands on even 590 parts to a certain extent. But regardless, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the 500, even the combo model.

As for the question on prices, no, I do not believe anyone can beat Big 5's sale prices on the 500. I can't think of anyone else in California who sells it cheaper.

Aye, I was floored when I saw that price. The 500 isn't some pretty model, but it works, and it works solid. So for $250, it's a steal, especially the combo model where you're basically getting the second barrel for free.

My brother bought one, and showed up the guys at the trap range when he broke more clays than they did with their $10,000 trap guns!
